โš ๏ธ Safety Checkpoints & Warnings

๐Ÿ“‹ Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)

1

Prepare Glass Protection and Lift Arm

Lay a folded thick microfiber towel across the windshield directly underneath the driver-side wiper arm. Grasp the metal arm midway up and gently pull it away from the glass until it locks into its raised vertical service position. Ensure the towel stays directly beneath the arm base to protect the glass if the spring snaps down.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Wiper arm is locked upright pointing away from windshield
  • โ€ข Folded towel sits flat on glass directly below the arm pivot path
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Failing to place a protective towel before lifting the arm
  • โ€ข Pulling the arm past its natural upright locking angle
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: The spring-loaded arm can snap back with enough force to crack or shatter the windshield; never skip the towel.
2

Locate and Depress Release Tab

Inspect the central pivot joint where the rubber blade frame connects to the metal arm. Locate the small plastic release lever or tab located on the underside or side of the hook connector. Press and hold this tab firmly inward toward the blade body using your thumb or needle-nose pliers.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Plastic tab is fully depressed inward
  • โ€ข Connector clip shows a slight gap indicating disengagement
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Prying the plastic clip with excessive force instead of depressing the lever
  • โ€ข Attempting to twist the blade off before disengaging the lock
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Support the metal arm with your non-dominant hand while pressing the tab so the arm does not twist.
3

Slide and Remove Old Blade

While keeping the release tab depressed, slide the blade assembly downward toward the windshield base to free it from the J-hook. Once the hook is exposed, tilt the blade sideways and maneuver it off the metal curve. Carefully lower the bare metal wiper arm until it rests gently against the folded towel.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Bare metal J-hook is completely free of the old blade assembly
  • โ€ข Bare metal arm is resting safely on top of the folded towel
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Leaving the bare metal arm sticking up in the air where it can snap down
  • โ€ข Yanking the blade outward instead of sliding it along the arm axis
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Never walk away from a bare wiper arm that is standing upright without a blade installed.
4

Attach and Lock New Wiper Blade

Match the replacement blade length against the removed blade and open the new blade's top adapter flap if equipped. Slide the curved metal J-hook into the center channel of the new connector until it seats around the plastic pin. Pull the blade firmly upward toward the top end of the wiper arm until you hear and feel a positive click, then snap the adapter flap closed.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Hook is fully seated inside the connector pocket
  • โ€ข Adapter latch is pressed flat and flush with the blade frame
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Installing the wrong length blade on the driver side (passenger blades are often shorter)
  • โ€ข Not pulling hard enough to engage the locking click mechanism
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Give the blade a firm tug along the arm axis to verify it cannot slide free before lowering.
5

Repeat Replacement on Passenger Side

Shift the protective towel over to the passenger side of the windshield. Lift the passenger wiper arm into the service position, depress the release tab, remove the worn blade, and set the bare arm onto the towel. Install the correct-size passenger blade into the J-hook until it clicks securely into place, then gently lower the arm.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Both new wiper blades are installed and resting parallel on the glass
  • โ€ข Protective towel is removed from windshield
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Mixing up driver and passenger blade lengths from the packaging
  • โ€ข Letting the passenger arm drop onto the glass without control
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Always lower the arms by hand; never release them to drop against the windshield on their own.
6

Test Washer Spray and Sweep Pattern

Remove the towel and all tools from the vehicle hood and windshield area. Turn on the vehicle ignition and trigger the windshield washer fluid spray to run the wipers through 4โ€“5 full sweep cycles. Observe that both blades clear water evenly across the entire wipe zone without chattering, squeaking, or unhooking.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Wipers sweep entire windshield area leaving clear, streak-free glass
  • โ€ข Blades remain firmly seated on the arms throughout the full motion cycle
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Running new dry rubber blades across a dry, dusty windshield which damages rubber edges
  • โ€ข Ignoring blade chatter caused by loose connector fitment
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Always wet the glass with washer fluid before testing to prevent dry friction damage to rubber and motor.
