โš ๏ธ Safety Checkpoints & Warnings

๐Ÿ“‹ Step-by-Step Guide (6 Steps)

1

Clean and Map the Dent

Spray 91% isopropyl alcohol over the dent and wipe it completely clean with a fresh microfiber towel. Position your line board or light at a 45-degree angle to observe the distorted reflection lines across the dent. Identify the exact center (deepest low point) and the outer stress crowns (high edges).

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Panel surface is matte-dry and free of wax, dust, or fingerprints.
  • โ€ข Line board reflection shows clearly warped, pinched lines marking the dent perimeter.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Skipping panel degreasing, which prevents hot glue from bonding firmly to the paint.
  • โ€ข Looking straight at the dent instead of using angled light to see the true low point.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Ensure panel is not hot from engine heat before spraying flammable alcohol.
2

Apply Glue and Seat the Pulling Tab

Select a pulling tab slightly smaller than the dent base. Squeeze a thick dime-to-nickel sized bead of hot glue onto the textured face of the tab. Immediately press the tab firmly into the exact center of the dent and hold light pressure for 10 seconds, letting excess glue create a slight bevel around the edge.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Tab is perfectly centered in the low spot with a uniform ring of glue squeezed around its perimeter.
  • โ€ข Glue transitions from clear/glossy to cloudy and firm as it cools.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Pressing the tab too hard and squeezing all the glue out, leaving metal-on-plastic contact.
  • โ€ข Letting glue cool too long in the air before pressing onto the metal.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Hot glue can cause skin burns; avoid touching the liquid bead directly.
3

Mount Puller and Gradually Lift the Metal

Slide the bridge puller feet over the panel with the center screw engaged onto the tab stem. Turn the wing nut or tension knob clockwise slowly, watching the reflection lines expand. Continue turning evenly until you hear a sharp pop or the metal lifts level with the surrounding body line.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Bridge puller feet rest flat against the panel without flexing.
  • โ€ข Center dent visibly raises level with or slightly above the surrounding panel.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Yanking or cranking the knob aggressively, pulling a sharp high point (volcano).
  • โ€ข Positioning the bridge support feet directly on the high crown of the dent.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Keep your face out of the direct line of pull in case the tab releases suddenly.
4

Release Glue and Remove Tab

Generously spray 91% isopropyl alcohol around the edge of the remaining glue pad. Wait 15 seconds for the alcohol to break the adhesive bond, then gently peel the glue pad off the panel using your thumb or a plastic scraper. Wipe the area dry.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Glue pad releases in one clean piece leaving zero residue on the paint.
  • โ€ข Panel surface is smooth and intact with no paint chips.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Prying dry glue off with metal tools or screwdrivers, scratching the clear coat.
  • โ€ข Not letting the alcohol penetrate for a few seconds before peeling.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Wipe up any alcohol dripping toward rubber trim or hot brakes.
5

Tap Down High Spots

Inspect reflection lines on your line board to locate any raised crowns or high spots created during the pull. Place the rounded tip of your plastic tap-down tool directly on top of the high spot. Tap the end of the tool gently with a rubber mallet in light, rhythmic pulses until the reflection lines straighten out.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Reflection lines on the line board appear straight, parallel, and unbroken across the repaired area.
  • โ€ข Panel feels flat and uniform when lightly swept with a microfiber cloth across your palm.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Striking the tap-down tool with heavy force, creating new low dents.
  • โ€ข Tapping off-center from the raised ridge.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Never use a bare metal hammer directly on vehicle paint.
6

Final Clean and Polish

Apply a nickel-sized drop of automotive polish to a clean microfiber towel. Buff the entire repaired zone in circular motions to remove any light scuffs or adhesive haze. Wipe clean with the dry side of the towel and perform a final 360-degree light check.

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Camera AI Checkpoint
  • โ€ข Clear coat is glossy with zero adhesive haze or micro-scuffs.
  • โ€ข Reflections of surrounding objects pass smoothly over the panel with no optical distortion.
๐Ÿ›‘ Watch Out For
  • โ€ข Leaving glue residue or alcohol residue unbuffed on the paint.
  • โ€ข Using abrasive rubbing compound instead of finishing polish.
โš ๏ธ Safety Note: Dispose of alcohol-soaked towels in a well-ventilated area.
