Locate and Test the Fuel Pump Wire
Consult your vehicle repair manual or fuse diagram to find the fuel pump wiring harness, typically running along the driver door sill plate or under the rear seat. Use a plastic trim tool to pull back the interior trim panels and expose the harness. Pierce the target fuel pump 12V supply wire with a multimeter probe set to DC volts, turn the ignition to ON, and confirm you read 12V for 2-3 seconds as the pump primes.

Disconnect the Negative Battery Cable
Pop the vehicle hood and locate the main 12V battery. Use a socket wrench to loosen the clamp bolt on the negative (-) terminal, then pull the connector completely off the post. Tuck the loose negative cable down into the battery tray or wrap the end in a shop rag so it cannot accidentally spring back and make contact.

Select a Mounting Location and Route Extension Wires

Measure and cut two equal lengths of 16 AWG wire long enough to reach comfortably between the cut factory harness and your chosen switch spot. Cover both extension wires inside split wire loom tubing and secure the bundle along existing vehicle wire channels using zip ties.

Splice the Extension Wires into the Factory Circuit

Insert one factory cut wire and one extension wire into a heat-shrink butt connector, crimp firmly with your crimping tool, and repeat the process for the other cut factory end with the second extension wire.
