Locate and Mark the Puncture
Roll the car forward or backward slightly until the tread face is clearly visible, or turn the steering wheel to expose the tire surface. Spray soapy water over the entire tread pattern and look closely for bubbling foam, which reveals escaping air. Mark the exact location of the bubbling leak or embedded screw with chalk so you do not lose it.

Extract the Puncturing Object
Grip the exposed head of the nail or screw firmly with needle-nose pliers. Pull the object straight out along the angle of entry to avoid tearing the surrounding steel belts or enlarging the channel. Keep your rasp tool within arm's reach so you can plug the rapidly escaping air immediately after removal.

Ream and Clean the Puncture Channel
Insert the spiral rasp tool directly into the puncture hole following the exact entry angle of the removed screw. Push and pull the tool vigorously while twisting in a full clockwise rotation to clean out debris, roughen the rubber, and size the hole. Leave the rasp tool seated inside the hole temporarily to hold remaining air while you prepare the plug.

Thread and Lubricate the Tire Plug

Insert the Plug and Withdraw the Tool

Pull the T-handle straight back out with a swift, firm tug without twisting. The slotted eyelet will release the plug, leaving the folded rubber securely wedged inside the tire carcass.
