Relieve Fuel Pressure and Disconnect Battery
Pull the fuel pump fuse or relay from the engine fuse box and crank the engine until it stalls to depressurize lines. Turn the ignition off, then disconnect the negative terminal from the vehicle battery. Verify zero pressure by unscrewing the fuel rail Schrader valve cap and gently depressing the pin into a rag.

Drop and Empty the Fuel Tank
Support the fuel tank with a floor jack and a wide wood block. Disconnect the filler neck hose, vapor lines, electrical harness, and fuel feed/return quick-connects. Unbolt the tank mounting straps, lower the tank slowly, and tilt it to pour the contaminated gasoline into an approved disposal container.

Clean Tank Interior and Replace Pump Strainer
