📋 Step-by-Step Guide (7 Steps)
Remove Door Trim Panel and Hardware
Pry loose the decorative trim covers, armrest bezel, and door handle surround using a plastic pry tool. Locate and remove all Phillips or Torx screws securing the door card to the metal door frame. Insert the pry tool around the perimeter to pop the plastic retainers loose, then lift the panel straight up and off.

- • Internal metal door shell is exposed with no cracked trim pieces.
- • Yanking the panel before finding hidden screws inside door pulls or behind handle covers.
- • Prying with bare metal screwdrivers, gouging the plastic upholstery.
Disconnect Wiring and Peel Vapor Barrier
Depress the locking tabs on the master window switch and door lock harness connectors to unplug them. Unhook the door latch and lock actuator cables from their plastic retaining clips. Carefully peel back the clear plastic vapor barrier from the perimeter butyl glue without tearing it.

Secure the Window Glass
Align the glass so the regulator attachment bolts are visible through the access holes. Loosen the glass clamp bolts, then manually slide the window glass up to the top closed position. Run 3 to 4 long strips of painter's tape up from the outside glass, over the door sash, and onto the inside glass to hold it firmly in place.

Extract Failed Regulator and Motor Assembly
Unplug the electrical connector directly powering the window motor. Remove the mounting bolts holding the regulator scissor/cable track and the motor housing to the inner door sheet metal. Collapse the regulator tracks inward and maneuver the entire assembly out through the largest service aperture.

Install New Regulator and Motor

Reattach Glass and Calibrate Travel

Temporarily reconnect the master window switch, reconnect the vehicle battery, and run the window up and down through two full cycles to verify smooth travel and auto-stop functions.

Reinstall Vapor Barrier and Interior Door Panel
Press the moisture barrier firmly back against the butyl glue perimeter. Reattach the interior door latch cables and reconnect all switch harnesses. Hang the top lip of the door panel over the inner window weatherstrip sill, align all perimeter push-pins with their corresponding holes, firmly snap them into place, and reinstall all retaining screws and trim caps.
